Happy Friday, friends. Today’s Northern Expression comes from the one and only J.D. Roth. If you haven’t read it yet, go check out the awesome (and free!) The Money Boss Manual. Simple advice, but so wise and true. As you celebrate your holiday weekend (Labor Day for our overseas visitors), just ask yourself what makes you truly happy. These questions might help. Life is meant to be enjoyed, but you have to find balance with your current self and your future self.
Plan updates coming Monday, so get excited! I look forward to checking in with you after the weekend to tell you all about our exciting month. Until then, go and be joyful!
Love, Maggie
PS – Another weekly newsletter of interesting links from the interwebs goes out tomorrow morning. Sign up on the sidebar. Tomorrow’s email features a study about the population of people that watch trash films (think: Sharknado). I love studies on random things!
Dividends Down Under
That is a great quote – really resonates with me as I watch a few family members chance after this – they think that true financial success can sustain their dumb spending.. I’m afraid that’s exactly why they are always financially struggling and will forever be chasing that impossible pot of gold.

It all comes down to actually figuring out where true happiness lies. We spend so much money to make up for where we’re lacking, but that tactic never works.

Maggie – LOVE that quote. It is so real. Spending money for me is like opening a bag of chips. If you keep the bag closed you feel you are in full control but once you open that bag you find your self consistently dipping into it until you reach the bottom. I felt this way with projects we did this summer. We were consistently dipping into our savings till it was almost gone. It is so easy to just keep spending.

Agreed! (Although chips don’t really do it for me… but something like Yogurt pretzels…!) 🙂
