fincon-16 the real story

#FinCon16: The Real Story

FinCon is happening right now in San Diego. I’m not there, but don’t you worry. I have access to Twitter and I can tell you what’s REALLY happening!

When people arrived, they were in for a few surprises. Rain? And very strange beaches….

But nothing can stop the nerds from uniting!

fincon16

And I understand there was some partying happening.

Day 2 was “Swag day” – everyone got free stuff. The big news is that banks are now into baking!

But if you didn’t gorge on Bank food… there was also the truck food…

People channeled their inner-Mustachian spirit:

And the introverts just had to deal with it:

Our favorite anonymous bloggers didn’t disappoint with very revealing faces!

And, drumroll please… FinCon Pick-up lines are BACK!

fincon16

There was an abundance of wisdom gained and shared:

And there were a few special guests:

I heard the Grim Reaper was actually a pretty good keynote speaker… and Batman was a bit of a disappointment. He even got taken down by some fellow power women bloggers! Poor Batman. Never saw it coming.

And just like that, the sun set on the first day of FinCon.

See? Now you don’t have to feel like you missed anything… I’m pretty sure I’ve covered it all.

“But there are two more days of the conference, Maggie!” Oh don’t I know it! And (for the cause) I’ll be glued to my Twitter feed to bring you a fresh recap of the conference finale on Monday!

You’re Welcome.

  1. Such a fun idea, Maggie! I’ve been loving all the tweets and seeing all the positivity.

  2. So clever! It’s been a great time and I did meet several people from Alaska too. Such a short drive from there!

It’s pretty amazing how I think everybody has a nice water view here and the airport is only five minutes away. Really well done on the venue

    Next time!

Thanks Sam! I guess I’ll have to go next time to meet the Alaskans! Dallas or bust!

  3. I am actually so happy you shared this. Feels like I’m apart of it! Looking forward to the finale post.

  4. Matt @ Optimize Your Life

haha Excellent. Thanks for the recap!

  5. Thx for the write up. Feels a little more like I was there too!

  6. Haha – thanks for putting this together!

  7. Britt

This is amazing! I have been wanting to start a PF blog for years, mostly just to go to FinCon 🙂 But I settle for commenting like a crazed superfan instead.

  8. Ok I have gone from FOMO to the deep sinking reality of missing out! Maybe you can edit my face into some pictures? =)

  9. The Green Swan

Thanks for the recap! Keep them coming… The Green Swan didn’t migrate West for the conference either.

Monday will recap the rest of the conference. It gives me an excuse to not feel guilty about wasting time watching all the tweets come out of the conference!

  10. Haha this is great. Didn’t go this year but hoping to go next year! Dallas!

  11. Wish you were all here! The conference itself is kind of beside the point. But I am loving every second of meeting so many people in our community. All the people you’ve heard of and have followed for years are totally down to earth and wonderful. And only slightly put off by hugs from people they don’t recognize. 😉

  12. It has been a surprisingly fun time even though I’m fairly sure that I am failing on the business front. Oops!

JuggerBaby even came for a surprise visit! Looking forward to your Monday post since I won’t have time to put one together!

It sounds like everyone feels the same as you! Party: first. Actionable insights: second. With maybe food in the middle there. 🙂

  13. THIS. IS. AMAZING. I seriously can’t wait for your next post on FINCON. Love the story telling through twitter.

  14. Thanks Maggie! It’s fun to see everyone’s Tweets for sure! Definitely want to get there next year – sounds like Dallas? I missed that announcement! Never been there – so that would be great!

After your excellent reporting from last year, I was looking forward to this year’s. Great job with the reporting, looking forward to day 2.
If FinCon is in Dallas next year, I’ll have to go!

  16. This was amazing haha! Thank you for the Twitter breakdown!

  17. Great Twitter recap and great source of new people to follow! I may be convinced to go to Dallas, especially since I can drive there!
